Now-a-days usage of SmarterMail interface with Plesk – Windows Environment has increased and it is effective and easy to use. SmarterMail provides a lot of tools for Server administrators to manage the mail server and wide variety of options for the users to manage their email accounts. However the challenging part is to make the Plesk panel integrated with SmarterMail interface. We used to face a lot of issues while doing this and we can find a lot of support queries in Odin forums regarding the SmarterMail integration with Plesk.
The issue which we are going to discuss here is one which we used to face after integration of SmarterMail with Plesk. SmarterMail has confirmed that there is no official fix for it and added that the issue has to be taken care by Odin’s Developers in future versions of Plesk.
One common and most irritating issue with Plesk is that it is not Backward Communicable. To be more clear, the communication between Plesk and SmarterMail (for example) is one-way. That is, changes made in Plesk are reflected within SmarterMail. However, changes made in SmarterMail are not pushed back to Plesk. For example, when a user logs into their SmarterMail webmail account and changes their password, SmarterMail is aware of the password change but Plesk is not. Which prevents you from logging in to the account from Plesk server where as you will be able to login without any issues from the SmarterMail interface.
Eventhough some third party solutions like “Sync SmarterMail Passwords to Plesk” claims that they provide a solution for this issue, it is not official and you can use them at your own risk.
However, there are support requests stating this drawback of Plesk panel and the Developers team of Plesk seems to be promising that the same will be corrected in future versions of Plesk. The issue is not only found with Smartermail but also with any third party interfaces that can be integrated with Plesk. For example, MailEnable, AT(@)mail, IceWarp mail etc.
So my friends who are using Plesk integrated with any of these third party software, beware of this nature of Plesk. Develop the habit of managing anything via Plesk after making sure that integration and communication from Plesk to the Software works properly. If you are having the habit of managing the thing directly via the ThirdParty Interface, beware, you need to repeat the action again in plesk to keep them both in Sync.
Thank you for Reading Friends. Have a Great Day !!!! 🙂 😉
