Changing CPanel password from Command Line

Hello Friends,
We all know how to change the cPanel password from WHM/cPanel. Here is the way to change it from the command line itself:

1) Access the server as a root user through SSH
2) Execute following command
/scripts/chpass username password
where
username : cPanel account username
password : new cPanel password you wish to set
Note: Password should not contain special characters because Linux command line treats special characters in different manner.

3) Now synchronize the new password with the default FTP user
/scripts/ftpupdate

This is similar to “Synchronize FTP passwords” option available in the WHM. IF it is not done, then you may face issues (Authentication Invalid)  while using your cPanel password for FTP.

I hope you find it useful. Have a Great Day !!!!
